Manila, Philippines — Dr. Comfort Ero, President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Crisis Group, will deliver the keynote address at the international conference After the Peace Agreements: The Bangsamoro and Beyond, to be held on 17–19 November 2025 at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
Her keynote, titled “After the Peace Agreements: The Landscape in Today’s Geopolitics,” will examine how global political shifts are reshaping the implementation of peace agreements and the sustainability of post-conflict governance. Dr. Ero is expected to share insights on the intersection of local peace processes with broader geopolitical dynamics, including the role of regional powers, multilateral institutions, and civil society in advancing durable peace.
Dr. Ero was appointed President and CEO of the International Crisis Group in December 2021. She first joined the organisation in 2001 as West Africa Project Director, later serving as Africa Program Director and, in 2021, as Interim Vice President. Between her two terms at Crisis Group, she was Deputy Africa Program Director at the International Centre for Transitional Justice (2008–2010), and earlier worked as a Political Affairs Officer and Policy Advisor to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General at the UN Mission in Liberia. She holds a PhD from the London School of Economics, University of London, and serves on several boards and advisory bodies focused on peace, security, and international affairs.
Organized by the Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG), the conference will convene more than 200 participants from government, civil society, academe, media, and international partners. Plenary sessions and breakout dialogues will highlight lessons from the Bangsamoro peace process alongside comparative experiences from Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
The event aims to generate actionable recommendations, strengthen multi-sectoral networks, and reaffirm commitments to inclusive, sustainable peace.
The plenary sessions, including Dr. Ero’s keynote, will be livestreamed via the Facebook page of IAG.
This conference is organized in cooperation with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Government, and the Southeast Asian Women Peace Mediators (SEAWPM), with support from the Australian Government.
