What to expect: Pro PolitiCS for Peace Davao launch

A new project that engages local and regional political leaders in the ARMM to promote political stability in the evolving Bangsamoro will be officially launched in Davao City on May 10, 2015. Here are some key information about the project, and what to expect during the launch.
■ The project is called Pro PolitiCS for Peace, short for "Promoting Political Climate and Stability for Peace". The area of coverage is the pesent ARMM.
■ It will be be implemented for three years by the Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG) - the lead agency, with Local Government Development Foundation (LOGODEF), Philippine Center for Islam and Democarcy (PCID) and Zamboanga Basilan Integrated Development Alliance (ZABIDA) as partners. The project is being supported by the Australian Government.
■ Pro PolitiCS for Peace aims to jumpstart the continuing effort to harness the participation of local government units, provincial peace and order councils, and local political leaders in the continuing debate on the concept of autonomy within the broader peace process. Specifically, it aims to facilitate the arena of discussion on the local government code and the formulation of policies in the administrative code (with reference to local governance) in the evolving autonomy.
■ The project was launched earlier (April 29, 2015) in Zamboanga City for local government units from Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-tawi. Local political leaders from Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, and Marawi City are expected to attend the Davao launch on May 10, 2015 at the Marco Polo Hotel.

■ The Australian Embassy in the Philippines represented by First Secretary Warren Hoye, the Office of Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) represented by Undersecretary Jose Lorena, Office of the ARMM Regional Governor represented by DILG Secretary Anwar Malang, and Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu will deliver solidarity messages.
