IAG conference tackles issues and concerns in BARMM's Special Geographic Area

In the hope to discuss the issues and concerns facing the BARMM Special Geographic Area (SGA), IAG conducted today, 8 November 2022, a conference focused on prospects and opportunities for peace and development.

The conference sought to frame plans and recommendations to help facilitate the peaceful resolution of armed conflicts and killings in the area. The event underscored the value of democracy, rule of law, human rights, and pluralism as the foundation of sustainable development. Major stakeholders from various sectors, constituents and leaders from the 63 barangays shared their insights to help understand and resolve the ongoing tensions in the area.

Guest speakers were from the BTA, PNP, LGU, 6th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, Provincial Government of Cotabato, CSO represented by Balay Mindanao, and IRD-Pikit.

The conference was a partnership program of IAG and the OMI Inter-religious Dialogue for Pikit, with support from the Australian Government.
