In support towards strengthening the Bangsamoro Parliament, IAG with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Philippines, engaged the committee secretaries of the BTA Committee Affairs Division and legislative staff officers of the Office of the Parliament Speaker and Secretary General on a training-writeshop on writing legislative documents. The training also highlighted the must-have basic etiquettes and protocols of a legislative staff essential to run the parliamentary business more smoothly.
Suh Samanodi-Candao, a mentor and in-house speaker in the Legis Quorum program of the Legislation Department of the Senate of the Philippines, served as the resource speaker and facilitated the participants in drafting bills and resolutions; writing a memorandum, invitation to a hearing, and spot reports.
The training from November 3-4, 2020 at the IAG Multiplatform Training Center is a follow-up learning session from a series of webinar trainings which started last July 2020 where the same participants partook in discussing Completed Staff Work, Backstopping, and Committee System.
The BTA Interim Parliament staff contribute in so many ways to the effectiveness of the Bangsamoro legislature, thus trainings to advance their skills and boost their productivity must be constantly provided to them.
