Our Story

The Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG) was established in 2001 to research, train and provide technical assistance to promote genuine autonomy and good governance in the Philippines. The institute views autonomy as an evolving concept and provides platforms for the minority Muslims and Indigenous Peoples to evolve self-governance structures for self-determination, growth, and peace. IAG engages with regional and national authorities, policymakers, revolutionary fronts, local government units, and security sectors towards building consensus on political, economic, and security issues, and it champions the development of public policies that protect the rights and welfare of vulnerable groups.
