15 civil society organizations (CSOs) from mainland Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) took part in a 2-day training on the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 and human rights protection in Iligan City last 1-2 August 2021.

The project is in partnership with the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission, BARMM (BHRC) and supported by Freedom House.

This initiative seeks to contribute to building capacities of BHRC's network of CSO partners in human rights monitoring, investigation assistance, legal assistance, and documentation and reporting.

PRIMER: Human Rights and the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020

As the BARMM sets up and strengthens its institutions, strong partnership and collaboration with CSOs in the protection of human rights and promotion of rule of law is key to implementing counter-terrorism measures.

SPECIAL REPORT: Assessment of the First Year of Anti-Terrorism Act

In the coming months, a similar training will be conducted to involve CSOs in the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
