In a recent gathering in Cagayan de Oro, a group of young Indigenous leaders embarked on a transformative journey focused on empowerment, strategic planning, and community building. The two-day training workshop, held on December 1-2, 2023, marked the successful conclusion of the 2023 Advocacy Leadership Training program. This initiative addresses the imperative for culturally responsive leadership and the essential need for advocacy development opportunities, particularly for the Indigenous youth hailing from the Erumanen Ne Menuvu, Higaonon, Lambangian, Manobo Dulangan, and Teduray communities in the Bangsamoro region.

The training program was curated to equip participants with indispensable knowledge, strategic planning expertise, and effective communication skills. The overarching goal is to empower these young leaders, enabling them to become impactful advocates for their respective communities.

These Indigenous youth leaders are well-positioned to further enhance their advocacy and leadership skills in 2024 as plans are underway for the implementation of initial activities within their communities, fostering positive change.

This collaboration between IAG and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Philippines aims to empower these leaders to actively contribute to the political and economic advancement of their societies. Through this partnership, IAG underscores its commitment to nurturing and uplifting Indigenous voices, ensuring they play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their communities and the broader region.
